The 2015-16 campaign saw Pirri recorded 11 goals over 52 matches. He became a trade target for the Panthers to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for an 8th round selection on February 29th in 2016.

In the offseason of the Ducks, Pirri belatedly signed an one-year $1.1 million deal for the New York Rangers on August 25 in 2016.

Pirri decided to pursue his collegiate career with RPI Engineers of the ECAC. He was selected to take part in Canada’s junior national team selection camp, however, he wasn’t included on the final team roster.

Pirri was called up to the Chicago Blackhawks after the 2012-13 NHL lockout was over. In the 2013-14 NHL season on March 2, 2014. Pirri was dealt to the Blackhawks to the Florida Panthers for a 2014 third round selection and the fifth round selection of 2016.

After competing in training camp and pre-season, Pirri was unable to earn a contract with the Panthers and was released on October 1, 2017. Three days later he agreed to a one-year deal for the 2017–18 season with the Vegas Golden Knights. On April 3, 2018, Pirri was called up to the NHL. Pirri scored two goals on three shots in a shootout victory over the Vancouver Canucks, earning his 100th career NHL point.
