Brad received a nomination in the category of Male Vocalist Of The Year. Again, Brad was named Fans Choice Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year during the 2006 SCMA Awards on March 19 in 2006. A month later Brad was awarded his Saskatchewan Centennial Medal in recognition of his remarkable musical accomplishments and contributions to Saskatchewan. In the CMA Music Festival in 2006, Brad was chosen to represent Canada at the Global Artist Party. In 2007, when the SCMA Awards were handed out on April 15th, Brad was named Entertainer of the Year for the fourth time in a row, as well as Male Vocalist of the Year for the 6th consecutive year. Brad was also awarded Male Vocalist of Year at 2007’s CCMA Awards.

A American record company (Infinity Records Nashville) noticed Brad and re- released Brad’s debut record in the United States in 2004. The label dissolved prior to “Free,” the first single, hit the airwaves at radio. Brad joined Canadian record label 306 Records for the release of his sophomore album Summertown Road, in 2005. The first four songs from the album made it to the Canadian top 25 of the country charts, which included “She Moved,” “I’d Rather Be Lucky,” “Your Love Is My Luck,” and the top 10 track “I’ve Got It Good.” In 2005, at the SCMA Award ceremony in March, Brad won 10 awards including Fans’ Choice Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, and the National Achievement Award. On the 17th of July the 17th of July, 2005 Brad was awarded one of the stars in the Merritt Walk of Stars. Brad released his debut solo Christmas album”Now That’s Christmas in November 2005.

Brad Johner grew up in Saskatchewan playing in the family group. At the age of 16, Brad was crowned the winner of an award in the National Talent Contest during Country Music Week in Hamilton in 1982. He continued for six years his solo career , before joining with Ken his brother Ken to create The Johner Brothers in 1988. In the span of 14 years they have released they released six albums (including their Greatest Hits), 26 singles and an award from the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) award, and more than 40 honors of the Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) which included Entertainer of the Decade, Ken took a decision to step down from the business of music to pursue other endeavors in 2002.

Brad did not want to hang the band’s hat at the moment, so he decided to return to the solo music scene. He relocated from Saskatoon together with his spouse Rhea along with their 5 sons, and began the process of creating his first solo album in collaboration with his producer Bart McKay. This album, called Free came out on Royalty Records in 2003. It was nominated as Album of the Year for both the CCMA as well as The Juno Awards, and won Outstanding Country Album at the 2003 Western Country Music Awards. In 2004 it was the Canadian Independent Music Awards named Johner as the most popular country artist/group of the Year. Brad was named Male Vocalist Of The Year during the 2003 SCMA and also won Song of the Year and Single of the Year, for “Hello.” Brad was a star the following year’s SCMA ceremony, taking home Male and Entertainer of the Year. “Free” was named Song Single, Video and Song of the Year. Free was named the Album of the Year. The band he was in as backup, the Brad Johner Band, won the title of Backup Band of the Year.

Johner has made appearances on Telemiracle, a yearly telethon. Johner co-wrote the current Telemiracle opening theme song with Donny Parenteau entitled “You are the Miracle”. It became the theme in 2011.
