Dan Boeckner is one of the most popular and richest Canadian singer- songwriter who was born on February 5, 1978 in Lake Cowichan, British Columbia, Canada. Dan Boeckner (/’ bo e k n born 5 February 1978) is a Canadian musician, singer, and guitarist. Between 2012 and 2013 Dan was a part of the project Divine Fits, with Spoon frontman Britt Daniel. He is part of Wolf Parade, and previously was a member of Atlas Strategic and Handsome Furs. Presently, Boeckner has a new group known as Operators that released their first EP1 album in August of 2014.

Following the disbandment the band Handsome Furs, Boeckner formed Divine Fits with Britt Daniel in the year 2011 when Daniel was away of his own band Spoon. They released their first studio album The Thing Called Divine Fits, in 2012 to praise from critics and an album of live performances, Live at Third Man Records in 2014.

In January 2016, Wolf Parade announced on their website that their hiatus was over, and that they would be returning to the stage with a series of live shows starting in May 2016. In May 2016, Wolf Parade released a self titled EP.

In May 2014, Boeckner debuted his new band, Operators, during Canadian Music Week in Toronto. In January 2016, the Operators announced that their debut album, “Blue Wave”, would be released on 1 April 2016.

Boeckner was then relocated into Montreal, Quebec, where the two eventually met Spencer Krug and helped form Wolf Parade. Boeckner brings his guitar talents to the band as well as splitting writing duties and playing the lead vocals with bandmate Krug. The group is signed to Sub Pop Records. In November of 2010, Wolf Parade announced that they would be taking their “indefinite hiatus”.

Boeckner was born at Lake Cowichan, British Columbia and, shortly after graduating from high school, he moved from there to Victoria, BC. In Victoria Boeckner was a guitarist and singer for a variety of small, independent bands. One of them was called God Shaped Vacuum and featured Frog Eyes-like prequel Carey Mercer on drums. There was only one release during their brief time, called Apocalypse Now! In the year 2000 Boeckner co-founded the renowned British Columbian band Atlas Strategic together with organist/vocalist John Pollard, and recorded their debut album Rapture, Ye Minions!. It was issued by an local company, Global Symphonic. The band performed and recorded a second album/EP that they self-released following their departure in 2002.

The month of October, 2005 was when Boeckner participated in the humorous North American Halloween Prevention Initiative (NAHPI) and was a part of the UNICEF benefit song “Do They Know It’s Hallowe’en?”. Boeckner was also a part of Islands the album that debuted in 2005, Return to the Sea. He was a guitarist on the album’s opening song “Swans (Life After Death)” and also played in”the “marching band” on the track “Where There’s a Will There’s a Whalebone”.

Boeckner formed the Handsome Furs with his then fiancée Alexei Perry, in the winter of 2005. The duo signed to Sub Pop Records and released their debut album Plague Park in 2007. “Face Control” was released in 2009, while Handsome Furs’ latest album Sound Kapital was released in 2011. On 17 May 2012 Handsome Furs announced the band was no more on their official website. Later, it was confirmed that the couple had broken up.
