Boulet is one of the most popular and richest French cartoonist who was born on February 1, 1975 in Meaux, France. Boulet is the pen name of Gilles Roussel (French pronunciation: [bule] ( listen ) ) is a French comic cartoonist and book designer born the 1st of February, 1975 Meaux, France. He was one of those who were the very initial French cartoonists to gain fame through the blog called BD beginning the month of July in 2004.
The blog’s drawings have been published for the first time in 2008 under the title “Notes”. Seven volumes were released as of December 2012.
In 2017, Boulet started a collaboration with the publisher Delcourt in order to produce Project Octopus, a collection of scientific comic books evoking subjects as diverse as the exploration of Mars to philosophy. Four to five books a year are planned to be released under this project. These books are written and drawn by artists such as Florence Porcel, Erwann Surcouf, and Héloïse Chochois, but are edited by Boulet.
Roussel was a part of the francophone-speaking 24 hour comics day in Montreal in 2008.

Roussel has studied art during his time at his Graduate School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. He graduated in 2001 and released his debut comic strip Raghnarok. Then, he started an online cartoon blog online in July 2004 that made him famous in France. Since then, he’s been employed by French comics magazine Tcho! and Psikopat along with many other magazines as cartoonists or authors. He succeeded Lewis Trondheim as cartoonist of the comic strip Donjon Zenith.
His blog’s popularity helped him to be the initial “Godfather” of the newly established Paris Comic Strip Blog Festival (Festival of Blogs BD) in 2005.
He started an English version of his blog in November 2009, where he republished all of his posts from the French blog from its start in 2004 in chronological order, at the rate of three posts per week.
