Alongside the Romanian Gabriel Trifu as his partner Kokavec took part in the draw for men’s doubles during the 1999 Wimbledon Championships. As qualifiers, they were defeated by Alberto Martin and Eyal Ran in the opening round, later being eliminated by the winners and top seeds Mahesh Bhupathi, and Leander Paes.
Kokavec played for Canada during a match with Mexico in 1998’s Davis Cup competition. The match, which was one of the American Group 1 Quarter-final in Halifax Canada, ended in victory for Canada Kokavec, and his appearance was in the opening of the reverse singles which was a defeat against Alejandro Hernandez.

Kokavec was born living in Tecumseh, Ontario and attended St. Anne’s Catholic High School. At the age 15 Kokavec played as an Orange Bowl semi-finalist and won the national junior championships in doubles and singles. As a member of the Canada’s Sunshine Cup team in 1993 He also played in the boys’ tournaments at Grand Slam tournaments and was the quarter-finalist for doubles during the 1993 US Open, partnering Sjeng Schalken. He as well as Jocelyn Robichaud won the Under 18s doubles title at 1993 Orange Bowl.
As a professional tennis player, He played in a variety of ATP Tour level tournaments, including the main draws for every tournament of the Canadian Open from 1994 to 1999. Doubles partners were Pat Cash in the 1996 tournament, and Gustavo Kuerten in the 1997 edition. He was in his second appearance in singles in 1998 with an upset against Steve Campbell. One of his best singles tournaments on tour were the quarter-finals of The 1998 Legg Mason Tennis Classic, along with his partner Marco Osorio, as well as the quarter-finals at the Boston Pro Tennis Championships in 1999 together along with Doug Flach.
In 2001 he had success on the Challenger tour with three titles, all in doubles, at Granby, Binghamton and the Bronx. It was his last year on tour as injuries forced his retirement from tennis. An inductee in the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame, Kokavec now teaches tennis in Florida.
