Birdie Kim (Korean Gimjuyeon) (born Ju-Yun Kim on 26 August 1981 in Iksan) is an Iksan-based South Korean professional golfer. Her highlight of her career is taking home in 2005 the U.S. Women’s Open at Cherry Hills Country Club. In the final round she was in contention for the lead at the hole 18 along with two amateurs Morgan Pressel and Brittany Lang. The second shot she hit was in an unmarked green side bunker. She sank her shot from the bunker to gain the lead, and eventually win the tournament by two strokes.

A car accident in 2009 ended Kim’s professional career, and she was having difficulties cutting her way through the LPGA. In 2012, she competed at 12 tournaments on the Symetra Tour and finished second on the list of money winners. Kim was last seen playing an LPGA sanctioned competition in 2005. Similar to Janet Alex in 1982 and Hilary Lunke in 2003, the U.S. Open was her sole LPGA Tour win.

As of 2005 Kim was able to earn a sum of $750,006 and was 13th place for LPGA season’s top in terms of money position. She got married to fellow pro golfer Bae Kyu Lee in December of 2007.
