Bindu Behatt was born the 18th of September 1954, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan to Giradharlal and Kamalabahen. Her family later moved to Limbadi and later Ahmedabad. After she completed her education from B.A Kanya Vidyalay Limbadi She earned an undergraduate degree of Arts in the year 1976 at H.K Arts College, Ahmedabad and a Master of Arts in 1978 from the School of Language, Gujarat University with Hindi literature as one of her topics. She earned the Ph.D. degree under Bholabhai Patel at the same university in 1983 to study her project Aadhunik Hindi Upanyas: Kathya Aur Shilp Ke Naye Aayam (Modern Hindi Novel: New Perspectives on Fiction as well as Form). The year was 1991 when she was married with Harshad Trivedi, a Gujarati poet and writer.
Bindu Bhat (Gujarati: biNdu Bhat (Gujarati: biNdu ) is an Gujarati novelist in the language of Gujarat, storywriter translator, critic and critic who hails from Gujarat, India. In her novel Akhepatar (1999) was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for the 2003 year. Other notable works include Mira Yagnikni Dayari (1992) and Bandhani (2009).
Her debut novel Mira Yagnikni Dayari, was published in 1992 and is a reference to the relationship between lesbians and women. The novel has also been translated into Sindhi with the original translation was acknowledged with the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. The second novel of hers, Akhepatar, was published in (1999) that was translated into a variety of languages which include Hindi, Sindhi, Marathi, Kachcchhi, Rajasthani and English. Translated into English from Vinod Meghani (unpublished). Bindu Bhatt debuted in short story with her novel Bandhani (2009). She also translated several stories to Hindi from Gujarati such as Harivallabh Bhayani’s Aapabransh Vyakaran, Dhiruben Patel’s Andhali Gali and Jayant Gadit’s Satya (in four parts together with Virendra Narayan Sinh). She also provided translations into Hindi into Gujarati such as the Fanishwarnath Renu (Monograph of Surendra Chaudhari), Dadu Dayal (Monograph by Raam Baqsh) and Bija Na Pag (short stories written by Shreekant Varma).

Her novel Mira Yagnik Ni Dayari was given the Goverdhanram Tripathi Award (1992-1993). The second novel Akhepatar was awarded The Sahitya Akademi Award to 2003. It was also was awarded by the Priyakant Parikh Prize created in 1999 by Gujarati Sahitya Parishad in 1999. She was also awarded the prize of the Justice Sharda Charan Mishra Bhasha Setu Samman (award for translation in 2009) created by Bhasha Setu in Kolkata.
