William Wallace Kollar (born November 27 1952) is an American football coach and former player. He is now as the coach of the defensive line of the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). Kollar was defensive player in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1974 to 1976, as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1977 until 1981. Kollar has over 34 years of experience in coaching which includes the last 28 seasons of coaching defense linemen within the NFL. Before joining Denver the year 2015, Kollar was a coach for defense linemen in Houston (2009-14), Buffalo (2006-08), St. Louis (2001-05) and Atlanta (1990-2000).

Kollar began his career with his team the Houston Texans in 2009 and played for the team for six years as a player, with his initial five years as the defensive line’s assistant coach. In his time with the Texans the team was 8th in NFL with respect to the total defensive effort (329 .4 per game) and was third in the league with respect to third-down percentage for opponents (35.9). The team was able to adapt to the defensive transition to a 3-4 system in the 2011 season Under Houston defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. The Texans continued to score the third-highest defensive turnaround (-91.2 year- to-year) in NFL history in 2011. Defensive end Mario Williams, Antonio Smith and J.J. Watt combined for five Pro Bowls with Kollar and Kollar in Houston.

After the 2014 season, Kollar left the Texans and became the Denver Broncos defensive line coach, where he reunited with Gary Kubiak. On February 7, 2016, Kollar was part of the Broncos coaching staff that won Super Bowl 50. In the game, the Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers by a score of 24–10.

Kollar was introduced to the course of his NFL coaching profession as the coach of defensive lines of The Atlanta Falcons in 1990. He spent over 10 years (1990-2000) as the coach of defensive lines of the Falcons and was rewarded with the winning of an NFC Championship in 1998 and the appearance in Super Bowl XXIII, which he lost to Denver. Kollar later spent five years as the defensive line coach at St. Louis. Kollar’s defensive line played a key role in the Rams 2001 Super Bowl run as the team ranked third in the NFL with respect to the rush defense (85.9 ypg) while also tying for seventh in the sacks (45) across the entire league. Kollar later spent three years as the defensive line coach within Buffalo (2006-08) and where Kollar coached the the next All-Pro defensive lineman Kyle Williams and two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Aaron Schobel.

Kollar was born within Warren, Ohio and attended Warren G. Harding High School and graduated in 1970. Kollar then went to Montana State University, where Kollar was a three-time first Second Team selection for the Big Sky Conference, and Two-time Little All-American. When he was a junior with the Bobcats He won the title of Big Sky Player of the Year. Kollar earned Most Valuable Player honors at the 1974 Senior Bowl and was inducted into the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame in 2014. The number 77 of his jersey has been removed from the game by Montana State.

He started coaching as an assistant to the defensive line as well as special team coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under coach John McKay in 1984. The following season, he was in the University of Illinois, first as a graduate assistant, later as a defensive line/special team coach. In 1995, Kollar was inducted into his hometown Warren Sports Hall of Fame. On April 10, 2014, he was named to the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, commemorating the 40th anniversary of his being named MVP of the annual college all-star game.
