Barry Pederson is one of the most popular and richest Ice Hockey Player who was born on March 13, 1961 in Big River, California, United States. Barry Alan Pederson (born March 13th the 13th of March, 1960) was the Canadian ex-professional ice hockey center who played for 12 years playing in the National Hockey League between 1980 until 1992. He was second in the NHL Awards Voting for Rookie of the Year in 1982. He was two-time NHL All- Star. He won the Stanley Cup in 1991 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Pederson continued to be a success during the seasons 1983-84, scoring 37 goals, 77 assists and 39 to earn 116 points. His assists and points continued to lead the Bruins while his points total was 6th in NHL. His 77 assists placed him second in league, behind the only Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey. He took part in the second time in a row NHL All-Star Game, and was chosen to represent Canada in the 1984 Canada Cup tournament that summer.

Pederson returned to Boston’s lineup for the 1985–86 season, but did not perform at the level he had prior to his injury. He finished the season with respectable totals of 29 goals and 76 points, good for fourth on the team but a 40-point drop from his last healthy year two seasons previous. At the conclusion of the season, Boston GM Harry Sinden, traded Pederson to Vancouver Canucks for Cam Neely and Vancouver’s first round pick in the 1987 entry draft, which the Bruins used to select Glen Wesley.

However, Boston management were convinced that, despite Pederson’s age, his best years were behind him as a result of two surgeries during the 1984–85 season to remove a tumour from his shoulder. On June 6, 1986, the Canucks signed Pederson as a restricted free agent. Cam Neely was left unprotected by Vancouver and went to the Bruins along with a first-round draft pick in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft as compensation for Pederson. The ninth overall pick in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, Neely’s development had stagnated and he finished the 1985–86 season with just 14 goals. However, Boston coveted his size and toughness, and considered him a potential heir apparent to Bruin players of the past such as Terry O’Reilly and Wayne Cashman.

The 1982-83 season, in which he was a top scorer with 107 and 46 goals. points. He was the top scorer for the Bruins in points and assists, and was ranked fifth in scoring in the league (the only player in the top 8 who did not make it into the Hockey Hall of Fame). When the Bruins were in playoffs he was able to elevate his game to a new level when the duo of him and Middleton created chaos, scoring 65 points in only 17 games before falling against the New York Islanders in the finals of the conference. Pederson was third in goals and points , despite not making it to the finals.

Barry Pederson began his Junior hockey career with the Nanaimo Junior A Clippers. Then he was promoted into the Victoria Cougars Pederson was then chosen into the initial round (18th in the overall) with the Boston Bruins in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft after playing junior hockey for the Victoria Cougars. He returned for only 22 games in the 1984–85 season, posting 12 points, before a second, more serious surgery had to be performed on the shoulder. This procedure required the removal of part of his shoulder muscle, and forced him to miss the remainder of the season.
