Barrington Pheloung is one of the most popular and richest Composer who was born on May 10, 1954 in Manly, New South Wales, Australia. His film projects comprised Hilary and Jackie which was which was based on the life of cellist Jacqueline du Pre, for which he received The Anthony Asquith Prize for Film Music in the 52nd British Academy Film Awards. Other projects are A Previous Engagement, Little Fugitive, Shopgirl, Touching Wild Horses, Twin Dragons, Shopping and The Mangler. Also, he composed music for Revolution Software’s adventure games In Cold Blood and the first two Broken Sword video games.

Pheloung is most well-known for his theme and the incidental music for his Inspector Morse television series, for which he was nominated to win Best Original Television Music at the British Academy Television Awards in 1991. The sequel Lewis along with the prequel Endeavour. He also composed music for dance companies like The London Contemporary Dance Theatre, and also for events such as Opening Night at Millennium Dome. Millennium Dome. Pheloung also composed the theme tune for the BBC TV show Dalziel as well as Pascoe.

He died in August 2019 at the age of 65 of respiratory failure.

In 1972 , at the age of 18 Pheloung emigrated to London where he took guitar double bass, composition, and guitar in Chiswick Music Centre. Chiswick Music Centre (which was part of the Chiswick Polytechnic) before proceeding to the Royal College of Music to learn composition under John Lambert and guitar under John Williams and Julian Bream. He also received lessons in conducting. In the second year of his studies the composer was awarded his first task for an ballet score.
