Yaya began his career with Cameroon playing against Thailand in an informal match in the month of March in 2015.
On July 30, 2014, he was signed by Greek Super League side Platanias for an unspecified amount. He quickly became the undisputed leader of the team’s defense.

On June 9, 2009 Yaya joined Tunisian team Esperance Sportive de Tunis where began his professional career. He joined FC Sochaux-Montbeliard from Esperance Tunis on January 17, 2012.
