Ustad Badar Miandad was born in 1960 into a well-known family of qawwals from Pak Pattan. He was the son of Ustad Miandad and his grandfather Ustad Din Muhammad Qawwal were well-known qawwals from the Punjabi language. He was a brother and cousin of deceased Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Badar Miandad died on 2 March 2007 in Lahore because of an attack on his heart, following two years of trouble with his heart as well as complications due to diabetes and blood pressure issues. In the last few months the singer was also struck with paralysis. He was in bed for two years and stopped singing qawwali about a year ago.
He was the younger sibling of Sher Miandad, also known as a well-known Qawwali musician reported to reporters in the aftermath of his death, that he experienced a heart attack years ago, and that he suffered an unfathomable heart attack on the 2nd of March 2007 at the time of his death.
