He earned an engineering degree in mechanical at Lukhdhirji Engineering College in Morbi. He was elected a Senate representative from Saurashtra University as a Registered Graduate Constituency Representative in 1982 until 2002. In 1988, he was also an elected participant in the Executive Council of the University. He was an assistant engineer for the Gujarat Maritime Board for 10 years. He resigned in 1993 to join politics. His wife is Hiraben and has a son as well as a daughter.

Arjun Modhwadia is a prominent Politiker in porbandar Gujarat, India. He was the leader for the opposition in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from 2004 until 2007. He was a presidant of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) which is the Gujarat branch of the Indian National Congress from 2 March 2011 to 20 Dec 2012.

He lost assembly election in 2012 against Babu Bokhiria of BJP in Porbandar constituency. He also resigned from the post of president of GPCC on 20 December 2012 following defeat. He again lost in assembly election in 2017 against BJP’s candidate Babu Bokhiria.

He was elected again in 2007 and between 2008 and 2009 he also served as chair of the committee on media as well as the Chief Spokesperson for GPCC. 2 March 2011 the GPCC elected him as the 27th president for GPCC.
