He was the head for Georgia’s Georgian Dream parliamentary majority from 2016 until 2019.

In the 2012 and 2016 elections, Talakvadze was in two different posts in the government , namely the Deputy Minister of Penitentiary as well as the Deputy Minister for Internal Affairs of Georgia.
