Annette Herfkens (29 April 1961) is the only survivor of Vietnam Airlines Flight 474 which fell into a mountain the 14th of November, 1992 in Vietnam. She survived for eight days with numerous injuries and was able to sustain herself just by drinking rainwater. The plane, a Soviet-built Yakovlev Yak-40 plane constructed in 1976, carried 26 passengers and six crew when it crashed on its way towards Nha Trang Airport. A few people survived initial crash but were killed before they were saved. Herfkens her girlfriend, who was along with her, passed away instantly after the hitting.

The year 2014 was the time Herfkens wrote a memoir detailing her experiences in Turbulence The True Story of Surviving. The book is said to have “received great applause from [its] audience” as well as great reviews in the form of Deepak Chopra, Kirkus Reviews and many other authors.
