Anna Karin Severina Pohjanen (born 25 January 1974) is a Swedish former soccer midfielder with the Damallsvenskan for Sunnana SK and Alvsjo AIK. She was awarded 51 caps by Sweden’s national team. Sweden women’s national team and scored eight goals and was a part of 1995’s FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Singer-songwriter Pohjanen released her debut album “Better Things To Do” in December 2001 on Label This, a subsidiary of Bonnier Amigo Music Group (BAMG). It featured lyrics in English with a guitar-driven soft rock. The album received mixed reception from critics, with Norrkopings Tidningar praises “competent”, “worthy” pop that fits the PJ Harvey mold. The review of Svenska Dagbladet was less positive, indicating it was not a good album. tracks did well. The album did not chart.

She then moved into television punditry and worked for Sveriges Television on their football coverage. Pohjanen also founded a sport management company and is an advisor to several leading women’s footballers in Sweden. Sveriges Television removed her from her role as a pundit in 2007, amid concerns of a potential conflict of interest.

After the 2000 seasonended, Pohjanen was contemplating quitting soccer to focus more in her work. However, she accepted an extension from Alvsjo that allowed her to skip training for recording sessions. She quit playing completely after 2001.
