Zhang Changning is a Chinese female indoor and beach volleyball player. She is part of the China women’s volleyball team. She is currently the captain of Jiangsu Zenith Steel’s club volleyball team.
In the 2015-2016 season, she was named CVL’s MVP.
She was promoted to the national team by Coach Lang Ping in 2014. She represented China in the 2014 Asian Games. She was part the Team China team that won gold in the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup. She was an outside hitter as well as an opposite hitter at the 2016 Summer Olympics and won the gold medal. She was a participant at the 2019 Montreux Volley Masters.

She started her indoor volleyball career, but was invited to join the national beach volleyball team. She was a beach volleyball player and teamed up with Ji Linjun in 2009. In 2010 she won the silver medal at Asian Beach Volleyball Championship. She competed later with Ding Jiingjing at Visa FIVB Beach Volleyball International in 2011.
She decided to change from beach volleyball to indoor volleyball in early 2013. National and provincial volleyball boards pressured her to reconsider. She refused to play beach volleyball again and was forced to rethink her decision. The ban was lifted due to widespread backlash from the provincial media and the Jiangsu team’s historically poor performance in the 2013-2014 seasons. She has been playing for Jiangsu since then in the CVL.
