In the year 1991, in tensions of the Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination controversy, Blair joined an ad informal group dubbed “Women for Judge Thomas”. Blair along with two other women who were part of the organization, Rosalie (Ricky) Gaull Silberman and Barbara Olson, subsequently co-founded the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) in 1992. They served as the group’s first General Counsel as well as its the executive vice-president. Later, she was the president of the group. The IWF is a proponent of equity feminism in contrast to gender feminists (i.e. accepting gender roles, but opposed to patriarchy). The slogan of the IWF can be described as “All Issues are Women’s Issues” The group is vocal on a variety and facets of politics typically from the Conservatism perspective within America.
