On three occasions, he was in the main draw of the Australian Open. He was awarded a wildcard at the 1996 Australian Open and faced Martin Sinner, world number 59. After winning the first two sets, the German won in five. After he lost in the last round of qualifying to play in singles, he was paired with Grant Doyle in doubles in the men’s division. He was awarded another wildcard to the singles draw of the 1998 Australian Open, but lost in the first round to Jonas Bjorkman (in a four-set match).
