Alka Lamba is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on September 21, 1975 in New Delhi, Delhi, India. Alka Lamba, a Indian politician, was born 21 September 1975. After more than 20 years of service in different capacities to the Indian National Congress, she decided to quit and join the Aam Aadmi Party in December 2014. Lamba, a Chandni Chowk resident, was elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly in February 2015. In September 2019, she quit AAP, citing disdain for her in the party. She officially returned to Congress on 6 September 2019. However, she was disqualified from Delhi assembly for violating rules for party change. This was a strong warning to corrupt turncoats. .

In 2006, Lamba founded India Foundation, a non-governmental organization with the goal of empowering women. This NGO focuses mainly on women’s issues. On the 63rd Independence Day of India (15 August 2010), the organisation organized a blood donation drive in 250 Indian districts. It collected 63000 units of blood and set a new record by donating blood to over 65,000 people in just one day. Famous Bollywood stars such as Salman Khan, Ritesh Dashmukh, Dia Mirza, and others promoted the campaign. Aamir Khan and other Bollywood stars donated blood to Salman Khan’s appeal. This campaign was also supported by Alexander Kadakin, Russian Ambassador to India.

In August 2015, a few months after she had been elected MLA for the Chandni Chowk constituency, Lamba was charged with vandalism and destruction of property in an incident which occurred within her own constituency. On 10 August 2015, a mob armed with lathis, swagger sticks and cricket bats attacked and badly vandalized a liquor shop located in the Kashmere Gate area of old Delhi. CCTV footage recorded shows Lamba leading the attack and vandalising the shop along with her supporters. The footage shows her reaching straight for the shop counter and violently pushing and spilling and throwing away the items on the counter. Following this, her supporters also vandalised the shop. According to reports, this happened because the shopkeeper was a BJP supporter and had objected to the AAP defacing his shop windows with posters eulogising Lamba and her party.

Lamba has been to the UK, Russia and the US in order to give speeches and attend seminars about women’s empowerment, human right, and sustainable development in third-world nations. She visited Venezuela in 2005 to attend the World Festival of Youth and Students. She visited the USA in 2006 to attend an international conference on women’s leadership programs. She visited London in 2007 and 2008 to attend the UN’s International Widows Day, as well as a tourism and cultural festival. In 2008-2009 Lamba traveled to Nepal for a seminar about disaster management programs. Lamba traveled across Brunei in 2010, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives as part of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay.

Lamba was just 19 years old when her first year of B.Sc. in politics began in 1994. student. She joined the National Student’s Union of India (NSUI), a student wing of Congress party, and was immediately given the task of Delhi State Girl Convener. She ran for President in the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), election after a year. She was the All India Girl Convener of NSUI in 1996 and was elected President of all India (NSUI) in 1997.

Representing National Commission for Women on 16 July 2012, as one of the member of the enquiry team of 2012 Guwahati molestation case, Lamba met the victim of a Guwahati molestation case, held a press-conference and revealed the victim’s identity. The ‘tip-off’ made local media houses work overtime to find the victim’s real identity. Some TV channels interviewed the victim’s neighbours to come to the conclusion that the girl’s name was not what she was forced to say by the channel that recorded her molestation and near-stripping. Such acts of Lamba’s were widely criticised. Following this, she was removed from the fact-finding committee of NCW.
