Lapper then moved to Brighton and studied in the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the University of Brighton, graduating with a first class honours degree in Fine Art in 1994.
She was also born with truncated feet. She accepted her condition, phocomelia and refused artificial limbs. Parys was born to her in 1999. They would appear together in “Child of Our Time,” an ongoing BBC documentary.
