This required an arthroscopic procedure. She was able to return to court in January 2018 after her successful recovery. She suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture after she injured her “healthy” other knee in a match against The Netherlands. She later admitted that she thought about retiring after the injury, but Anita Gorbicz, an athlete, convinced her that she could still compete at the highest level, even though both of her knees had been severely injured. After nine months of rehabilitation, she made her return in January 2019.
