Other documentaries like Tornadoes, Curlers Against Misery, Burning Man as well as her TV-series Cowgirls were broadcast on TV-stations all over the world. In 2001, Rideaux wrote, directed and produced Backgammon, a futuristic Arthouse feature that won critical acclaim at festivals in Berlin, London and Cannes, where it received the Cannes Film Festival Independent Award – handed to Rideaux by Albert II, Prince of Monaco.

Ziri Barbara Wagner was born in Esslingen/Germany. Rideaux grew-up with her parents Wolf und Renate Wagner, and her younger sister Maia. Rideaux was encouraged from an early age to participate in many sports, including horseback riding, gymnastic and athletics, as well as volleyball and skiing. Most of her childhood years were spent in Bavaria (Wettstetten/Ingolstadt). With the German Abitur 1986, she graduated and completed her studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1991 with two Masters degrees in International Politics Journalism.
Rideaux began writing for newspapers when she was 15 years old. She then started publishing the local political journal Schanzer Journal aged 18. At age 20, she was promoted to editor-in-chief of the local television station Regionalfernsehen Ingolstadt, where she hosted the daily newshour. Rideaux then moved to Munich where she worked as a journalist for Bayerischer Rundfunk (Radio and Television). Rideaux made her move to Berlin in 1989 as a TV reporter and host for German Television ARD. She covered the highlights of German Reunification, such as the opening of Brandenburg Gate. 1991, she hosted the TV program “Voll Drauf”, initially with Cherno Jobatey. She left Germany in 1992 to travel the globe as a foreign correspondent for TV.
The oldest of two daughters to Transylvanian immigrants, Rideaux spent a conflicted childhood in Germany. She left home at age 17 and left Germany as soon as she finished her University degrees. Rideaux stayed close to her family and regularly visits Germany. In 1996 she married Patrick Rideaux. The couple lived together in Venice, California until their divorce in 2007. Rideaux resides in Venice Beach and Topanga Canyon/Los Angeles.
