Yuval Diskin is one of the most popular and richest Spy who was born on June 11, 1956 in Giv'atayim, Tel Aviv District, Israel. Yuval Diskin (Hebrew yvbl dyskyn – born June 11, 1956) is the 12th Director for the Israeli Internal Security Service Shabak. He was often referred to as the “Shin Bet” in English from 2005 to 2011. He was appointed by Prime Minster Ariel Sharon and served as the 12th Director of the Israeli Internal Security Service Shabak (often referred to in English as “Shin Bet”) from 2005 to 2011.
Diskin was made commander of the Jerusalem District in 1997. The Shabak’s tenure saw the development of sophisticated operational methods, advanced technological, and data mining capabilities. These were implemented by Hamas’s military wing within the Judea-Samaria region. This led to a significant decline in terrorist and suicide attacks in Israel. As the Shabak’s deputy director, he implemented advanced technological methods as well as operational doctrines from 2000 to 2003. Diskin was the Shabak’s Deputy Director during the Second Intifada. He developed counter-terrorism operational capabilities and countermeasures to the suicide attacks that claimed hundreds of lives. Diskin also created the doctrine of Command and Control Operation Centers (CCOC), which allowed for intelligence gathering, analysis, and implementation between Shabak and other intelligence and security agencies to create more actionable intelligence.
On May 15, 2005, he was appointed by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to replace Avi Dichter as the Director of the Shabak. In 2006, the Shabak’s major concerns were suicide attacks, obtaining highly accurate intelligence, and assessing the situation in regards to the elections in the Palestinian Legislative Council. Diskin and the Shabak were among the few people in the Israeli security forces who predicted Hamas winning the elections. Later that year, Diskin warned about the increasing rate of smuggling in the Philadelphi Route, which was under Egyptian control, and stated that in two years the Gaza strip would become a “Lebanon”. In accordance, the Shabak focused on improving its technological, operational and intelligence-gathering capabilities at the Egyptian border.
In 2009, in an unusual act, the Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu requested Diskin to extend his service, due to his integral and unique role in maintaining the national security of Israel.
He was named head of Shabak’s Counter Terrorism Division in 1990. This division was responsible for collecting and analysing intelligence and carrying out operations using the information. He was given the task of establishing ties with Palestinian security forces under the Oslo Peace Accord in 1993 by Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and the Shabak Yaakov Peri. He was appointed the Intelligence and Counter Terrorism Division’s overall head in 1994.

Diskin was born at Givatayim. He joined the Israel Defense Forces in 1974 and was the deputy company commander for Sayeret Shaked. This command Sayeret is part of the Israeli Southern Command. Diskin received a bachelor’s in Israeli Studies and political sciences from Bar Ilan University and a master’s in public administration from University of Haifa.
After completing his military service in 1978, Diskin joined Shabak. He served several years in various operational positions in Nablus, Judea and Samaria, as well as in Beirut, Sidon, during the 1982 Lebanon War. He was named head of operations for Nablus in 1984 and, by 1989, the Jenin, Tulkarm and Samaria districts. He was responsible for gathering intelligence and analysing it to determine the activities of terrorist organizations in the area. Also, he performed operations based on that intelligence.
In 2003, during a sabbatical, he became special advisor to Mossad Director, Meir Dagan. During this time he established a methodology for the Mossad’s new operational tactics.
