Yuliya Krevsun is one of the most popular and richest Middle-Distance Runner who was born on December 8, 1980 in Vinnytsia, Vinnytsia Oblast, Ukraine. Yuliya Kravsun, nee Gurtovenko, was born on 8/12/80 and is a Ukrainian middle distance running athlete. She is particularly skilled in the 800m. She is a member the Fenerbahce Athletics Club in Turkey.

She felt the need to return to athletics in late 2005, while still managing her training and caring after her son. She was devastated by Nataliya Tobias’ loss at the 2006 national championships and decided to re-enter professional athletics. In 2006, she started training with Iryna Lischynska. Although she was pleased with her progress, she fell short of the finals at the 2007 European Athletics Indoor Championships. She won the silver medal at 2007 European Cup, and also set new personal records for 800m and 400m. At the national championships she ran 800m in under two minutes. She won it in 1.59.60 seconds. She made further improvements at the 2007 Summer Universiade, where she won gold and set a world record time of 1.57.63 seconds. Krevsun was under pressure to be the world-leader at the 2007 World Championships and finished in a sub-par 2.02.45 minute heat. She was fifth fastest 800m athlete at the end of that season.

She regained full fitness in 2007 and won silver at the 2007 European Cup and gold at the 2007 Summer Universiade. After a poor performance at the 2007 World Championships, she rebounded in 2008, reaching the 800 metres final at the Beijing Olympics and competing at the World Athletics Final. She won the gold medal at the 2009 European Team Championships in Leiria, and finish fourth in the 800 metres final at the World Championships that year.

After strong performances in the 800 m at the 2008 IAAF Golden League meets, including beating World Champion Janeth Jepkosgei, she gained self-confidence and focused on competing at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She ran a personal best of 1:57.32 in the qualifiers at the Beijing Olympics and reached her first Olympic final, eventually finishing in seventh position in the 800 m final.

At the 1999 European Athletics Junior Championships, she won the silver medal. She competed at the European Championships in 2002-03, and also participated in the World Championships. However, she began to feel tired of athletics. In 2005, she gave birth to her first child and quit competitive athletics. In 2005, she felt a strong pull to run and began training with Olympic gold medallist Iryna Lischynska.

Krevsun was born in Vinnytsia. Her family was very involved in track sports. Her mother, Militina Moskvina, was an 800 m runner and her father, Yuriy Gurtovenko was a skilled shooter. She started out running 10 kms, but she moved to 800 m in 1997. She was born into poverty and her athletics career was affected by this. She also competed in the European Athletics Championships, but didn’t make it past the heats. She represented Ukraine at 2003 World Championships but lost again in the heats. After growing dissatisfied in athletics during the 2003 and 2004, seasons, she decided to have a family. Danil was her first child, born in 2005. She said that she was unhappy with her situation and decided to end her athletics career. I desired a quiet lifestyle, romantic dinners with my spouse, and a baby’s laughter in our home.

Krevsun completed a course in foreign economic management at the University of Management and Administrative Department in 2007; her studies enabled her to enter the 2007 Summer Universiade.
