She finished second to Valentina Yegorova a second-time. Yegorova won the race in 2 hours and 28 minutes. Arimori ran the race in 2:28:05. Both runners ran four minutes faster than the previous Olympic race but they were defeated by Fatuma Roba from Ethiopia, who finished the race and won gold with a time 2:26:05.
