Nam started his mixed martial arts career as a professional in 2006. He competed for numerous regional promotions, including M-1 Global, Legend Fighting Championship, and ROAD FC throughout Asia. Nam managed to build a record of 17-4-1, before signing with UFC in December 2013.
Phillipe Nover, a returning UFC veteran, faced Nam in a featherweight fight on May 16, 2015 at UFC Fight Night 66. He was defeated by Phillipe Nover in a fight at featherweight.
