He portrayed Liu Shaoqi in China Film Group and DMG Entertainment’s production of Huang Jianxin and Han Sanping’s Beginning of the Great Revival, alongside Liu Ye, Chen Kun, Li Qin, Huang Jue, and Liao Fan.
Yu, who played Brother Xi in Crazy in Love in 2007, made his film debut in 2007. He starred in Crazy In Love with Yao Chen, Zhang Jiayi and the historical television series Past Events that same year.

Yu Xiaoguang, also known as Ethan Yu (Chinese pronunciation: Yu Xiao Guang – born 16 May 1981), is a Chinese actor and composer. Yu was a sprint canoer and a swimmer. He made the transition from sports to film in 2006. Yu appeared on several television series, including My Kung Fu Girlfriend (2006) and Fighting in Peking (2009). He also appeared in Mao Anying (2010) and The Happy Time of the Spicy and Hot Girlfriend (2012).
