Yu-Foo Yee Shoon is one of the most popular and richest Singaporean Politician who was born on February 17, 1950 in Singapore. Yu-Foo was a Singaporean born in 1950. Foo Tuck, her father, was a Hainanese immigrant. He served as principal at Pei Chun Public School between the 1940s and his retirement in 1971. Fu is her maiden name. Yu Lee Wu is her engineer lecturer husband. They have three children together.
Yu-Foo was named “Woman Of The Year” by Her World magazine in 1995. She was also awarded the Rochdale medal by the Singapore National Co-operative Federation (1997).
In November 2001, Yu-Foo was appointed Mayor of the Bukit Timah Community Development Council (CDC), which subsequently expanded to become the South West CDC. With her appointment, she became the first woman Mayor in Singapore.
In August 2004, Yu-Foo was appointed Minister of State at the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
Yu-Foo was elected first to Parliament at the 1984 general elections. She was one of three women elected to Parliament at that time. She went on to be one of the longest-serving female politicians in Singapore.

Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, pinyin Fu Xiquan & Chinese: Fu Xi Quan ; born 17 Feb 1950), is a former Singaporean politician. She was a member of the People’s Action Party (PAP), and served as a Member (MP) in 1984-2011. She was also the Mayor of South West District of Singapore and Minister of state at the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
Yu-Foo was a Nanyang Girls High School student from 1962 to 1967. She graduated from Nanyang University with a Bachelor in Commerce in 1971. She completed a Master in Business at Nanyang Technological Institute in 1996.
In June 1999, Yu-Foo was appointed Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the at the Ministry of Community Development and Sports (MCDS).
