Younes Makhioun is one of the most popular and richest Dentist who was born on December 25, 1955 in Abu Hummus, Beheira Governorate, Egypt. Dr. Makhioun was elected as a parliamentarian representing Al-Nour Party in the 2011-12 Egyptian parliamentary elections. He was also a member of constituent assembly that made the draft of Egypt’s current constitution. In March 2012, he was one of 50 legislators elected to the Constituent Assembly of Egypt. He remained in the Constituent Assembly until it was overhauled in June 2012. He objected to the Egyptian government receiving an IMF loan in August 2012. He also clashed against liberals about press freedoms and demanded severe sentencing for libel or slander.

Makhioun graduated from Alexandria University’s School of Dentistry and Oral Medicine in 1980, and also received a bachelor’s in Islamic Sharia from Al- Azhar University in 1999.
After Emad Abdel Ghaffour’s resignation, Makhioun was elected President of the party in January 2013. As chairman of al-Nour he was a visible representation of the party in the July 2013 coup against Mohamed Morsi. Makhyoun, who initially supported the removal of Morsi by the army on 3 July, announced al- Nour’s withdrawal from anti-Morsi coalition following the “massacre” of 8 July in which many Morsi supporters were murdered.
