Yoshika Matsubara, also known as Song Yuan Liang Xiang / Matsubara Yoshika was born August 19, 1974 and is a former Japanese manager and football player. Matsubara is the CEO and President of Felice Mondo Inc., a football instructor (Gyosei International Schools General Manager of Astra International course) and vice chairman of the J.League Players OB Party.

Matsubara studied at the Instituto Superior de Education Fisica in Uruguay in 2002 and began coaching. After receiving his first coaching certificate in 2005 and completing the set by the Japan Football Association in 2010, Matsubara was awarded his S Level certificate.

After retiring as a professional player, Matsubara struggled searching for a second career at first. Ultimately he chose to stay working in the world of football however, as a way of giving something back to the sport which made him so successful. Founded on the philosophy of teaching children in a relaxed manner and taking time to concentrate on building character, Matsubara opened his first Football school in 2005, aiming to offer the best children’s coaching in the country.

After announcing his retirement in 2005, he established Felice Mondo Inc. as the CEO of the company. He also holds the positions of General Manager of the Gyosei International School Astra International football program, and Vice Chairman of the J.League Players OB Party.

Matsubara was also a member of the Japan U-23 National Team and was part the 1996 Summer Olympics team that famously beat Brazil, which featured players like Rivaldo and Roberto Carlos.

Matsubara was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. He played with CA Penarol of Uruguay after graduating from Tokai University Shoyo Senior High School. After his return from Japan in 1994, he joined Jubilo Iwata’s J1 League team. He then made a number of moves, including with Shimizu S-Pulse and JEF United Ichihara. He played for 12 clubs in his playing career.

Matsubara sat down and watched Miura’s game after Kazutoshi Miura returned from Brazil. Matsubara was inspired by what he saw to be a professional player. Matsubara tried out for professional clubs at Shimizu S-Pulse and Yamaha Motors (Now Jubilo Iwata), two clubs that were close to joining the J1 League. Matsubara, however, was unsuccessful and decided to go abroad to search for a club. He was recommended by Masakuni Yamamoto, the Japan Football Association’s president, who was creating a team for the 1996 Summer Olympics.
