York made the 2005 film Roman. This companion piece was made to Lucky McKee’s horror classic May. Roman starred Kristen Bell as Lucky McKee, and was directed and produced by Angela Bettis, horror queen. It has been shown at numerous film festivals worldwide, including Fangoria L.A. and Berlin International Film Festival. After Roman was released, Shackleton wrote, produced, and directed Kush Starring Lyn Shea, Mike Erwin, and William Atherton. Kush is a candid look at the lives of the San Fernando Valley’s rich white children, who become drug dealers out of boredom and lose a lot.

Shackleton went on to produce and direct his feature-length movie. Las Paraditas is a documentary about the rampant violence in Tijuana and the corruption surrounding the prostitutes. The Cannes Film Market screened “Las Paraditas”, a 2000 documentary. York was invited by UCLA to take free film classes immediately afterward. York studied film development, marketing and distribution and worked closely alongside Lenny Shapiro, an experienced film producer.
