Yeo Guat Kwang is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on January 27, 1961 in Singapore. Yeo Guat Kwang, simplified Chinese: Yang Mu Guang; traditional Chinese: Yang Mu Guang; pinyin : Yang Mu Guang; born 27 Jan 1961) was a former Member of Parliament of Singapore. He was a member of People’s Action Party (PAP) from 1997 to 2015. He is currently the Assistant director-general in the National Trades Union Congress.
He joined the labour movement in 1997 as the Executive Secretary of the Building Construction and Timber Industries Employees Unions (BATU). He was appointed Executive Secretary of the Singapore Industrial and Services Employees Union in 2001. He was appointed Executive Secretary of the Amalgamated Union of Statutory Board Employees in 2007.
Yeo was president of the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE), a consumer advocacy group founded by the NTUC, until June 2012. Some have criticized CASE for being toothless.
In January 2014, Yeo was appointed Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) in the NTUC, which has close ties with the Singapore government.
Yeo was a member of the Parliament for Cheng San Group Representation Constituency from 1997 to 2001, Aljunied GRC between 2001 and 2011 and Ang Mo Kio GRC between 2011 to 2015. Yeo was the leader of the PAP team for Aljunied GRC during the 2015 general elections, but they lost.

Yeo was educated at Nanyang Junior College (1978-1979) and at The Chinese High School (1974-1977). In 1986, he graduated from The National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma of Education from the National Institute of Education. This diploma was obtained in 1987. In 2013, he received a Masters of Public Administration and Management from NUS School of Business and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
Yeo began his career as a teacher at Nanyang Junior College in 1987. In 1991, he was appointed Head of Department at Anderson Secondary School. He was a specialist inspector for Chinese at The Ministry of Education from 1993 to 1996.
Yeo is also the chairman of the NTUC’s Migrant Workers’ Centre, which was set up in 2009. He is also the head of the Centre for Domestic Employees, and the director for Workplace Safety and Health.
