Tzagai joined Maccabi Netanya in July 2007. He had a great debut season, scoring 4 goals and 6 assists. However, Lothar Matthaus caused him to lose his faith and he left the club. Tzagai signed with Bnei Sakhnin at the end of September 2008.

Tzagai, along with two other Be’er Sheva members, admitted to having received bribes in order to throw a game against Hapoel Ra’anana during the 2006-07 season. All three of the players refused to host the match and were later threatened by those who tried to bribe them.

Tzagai was raised in Ethiopia’s Beta Israel community. His family immigrated to Israel during Operation Solomon in 1991.
Tzagai was a member of Beitar Avraham Be’er Sheva’s ranks. However, the club’s collapse in 2002 led to him signing at another club in Beersheba- Hapoel Be’er Sheva. He was then loaned until 2004, when he returned to F.C. Ashdod, Hakoah Ramat Ga.
In September 2009 after one poor season with Sakhnin, Tzagai signed for Hapoel Ashkelon. He scored 13 goals and made 7 assists and was voted as the MVP of the 2009-10 season in Liga Leumit after he was the main reason Ashkelon got promoted to the Israeli Premier League.
