Yazz is one of the most popular and richest Singer who was born on May 19, 1960 in London, United Kingdom. Yazz, a British pop singer, was born Yasmin Evans on 19 May 1960. Her hit 1988 song “The Only Way Is Up” is her most well-known track. Yazz & the Plastic Population are some of her recordings.

She released singles all through the 1990s, including a cover of “Never Can Say Goodbye” by The Jackson 5. After signing with East West Records, in 1997 she released The Natural Life (an album of cover versions). The album was released in Japan and Australia, as well as in some other parts of Europe. However, it was not available in the UK.

Her 2008 album Running Back to You, distributed in the UK by ICC Records, charted her spiritual journey and her new-found Christian faith. Yazz is now based in Spain, and is an active member of the Calahonda Baptist Church. She returned to Britain occasionally to promote this album, performing songs from it live interspersed with several anecdotes pertaining to her faith.

In August 2009, Yazz performed with a full band on stage for the first time in several years at a church in Southampton. In October 2010, she performed again with a band at Cathedral House in Huddersfield, home of the Huddersfield Christian Fellowship.

Yazz was forced to reevaluate her career options during this time. She wanted to end her unhappy marriage to Summers, which had led to Rio being born in April 1990. Her dependency on alcohol was also evident. After researching various religions, Yazz was suggested by a friend who used be her hairdresser to visit her church. She decided quickly to “turn over her life to Christ.”

Yazz was the daughter of a Jamaican father, and an English mother. She attended Holland Park School where she was a star athlete, winning the 400m. She was also part of the England under-19 volleyball squad. After a stint as a catwalk model in 1982, she recorded with The Biz and scored several club hits. She was first to commercial success in 1988 when she sang on Coldcut’s “Doctorin’ the House”. In 1988, she launched her solo career with Big Life Records, which was established by Jazz Summers. She released her first solo single, “The only way is up”, on the label. It went on to spend five weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart, eventually becoming the second-biggest- selling UK single of the year. Her second single, “Stand up for Your Love Rights”, was another hit. In September 1989, her debut album Wanted (UK Number 3) was certified double platinum for more than 600,000.

In 1989, she had her fourth UK Top-10 single with “Fine Time”. However, she has only recorded sporadicly since then. After the hit single “Treat Me Good”, a second Big Life album called Revolution of Love was set for release in 1990. Yazz left the label and the album was scrapped.

Yazz signed with Polydor Records, and an album titled One True Woman was scheduled for release in May 1992 following the release of the title track, but was also cancelled. She returned to the Top 40 in 1993, performing with Aswad on the hit “How Long”. Her second album, One on One was finally released in 1994, including some of the tracks recorded for the One True Woman album.
