Yazh Suthakar, was born Suthakar Smuganathan in Jaffna, Sri Lanka on October 17. His father, Sanmuganathan Nagalingam (also known as Yazh vanan), was also a writer. Suthakar studied at Nelliyadi Methodist Mission School [Arasadi Pallikkuudam] between 1965 and 1970. In 1976, he graduated from Jaffna’s Hindu College.
