Yaron Brook, Hebrew: yrvn Brvk; born May 23, 1961, is an Israeli-American activist, writer, and entrepreneur. He is an Objectivist, and is currently the chairman of the board at Ayn Rand Institute. He was the executive director there from 2000 to 2017. He is also co-founder and author of BH Equity Research. In these books, he examines a wide range of topics from an Objectivist viewpoint.

Yaron Brook was interviewed on The O’Reilly Factor’s Impact Segment, December 17, 2004. The context was that an embedded journalist had previously reported about the Fallujah shooting of disarmed Iraqi soldiers. He said the following during this interview:

Brook promotes the Objectivist ethical position that rational selfishness is a moral virtue and that altruism is evil. In addition to teaching classes on his moral view of self-interest at ARI and as a guest lecturer at Brown University, Brook also defended the egoist position in a 2006 debate with former US Senator Robert Krueger at Texas State University, San Marcos.

Brook is an outspoken proponent of laissez-faire capitalism. In appearances on CNBC and in several articles and speeches, he has defended the rights of corporations and businessmen and upheld the virtues of capitalism. In a January 7, 2007 editorial in USA Today, he defended multimillion-dollar CEO pay packages against the attempt by government to regulate them. In a 2010 interview, Brook called the efforts of Democrats to raise taxes on multi- millionaires “totally immoral.” He criticized George W. Bush for signing the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which regulates corporate accounting practices. He has also argued that antitrust laws are “unjust and make no sense ethically or economically.”

He co-founded BH Equity Research in 1998 with Robert Hendershott. Today, he is the chairman and managing director.

Yaron Brook was raised and born in Israel. His parents were South African Jewish socialists. A friend gave him a copy Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged when he was sixteen. This inspired him to leave the socialism he had been taught by his parents and embrace Objectivism. After graduating high school, he was a first sergeant of Israeli military intelligence (1979-1982). He then received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa in 1986. He moved to the United States in

1987. In 1989, he earned his Master of Business Administration and PhD in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

Brook was an associate of distinguished Objectivist intellectuals such as philosopher Leonard Peikoff. In 1994, he cofounded Lyceum International. This company offered distance-learning courses and organized Objectivist conference. He left Santa Clara University in 2000 to become the President and Executive Director at Ayn Rand Institute. It was located in Marina del Rey (California). In 2002, ARI moved to Irvine, California.
