Yan Bingtao is one of the most popular and richest Snooker Player who was born on February 16, 2000 in Zibo, Shandong, China. Yan Bingtao, Chinese: Yan Bing Tao, was born 16 February 2000. He is the youngest winner of the Amateur World Snooker Championship. His 8-7 win over Muhammad Sajjad in 2014’s final earned him a spot on the main tour.
Yan started playing in professional competitions when he was 13 years old, in Asian Players Tour Championships and as a wildcard in Chinese ranking tournaments. In his first match against Vinnie Calabrese at the 2013 Yixing Open, Yan won against a professional. He also won over Yu Delu Barry Pinches, Barry Pinches, Stuart Bingham and Liang Wenbo in the 2013/2014 as well as 2014-15 seasons. He was one of 32 finalists in the 2014 Wuxi Classic as well as the 2014 Shanghai Masters.
Yan was unable to take up his entry in the first ranking tournament of the 2015/2016 season, the 2015 Australian Goldfields Open, after failing to obtain a UK Visa. He was selected for the Chinese B team in the 2015 Snooker World Cup, with Zhou Yuelong as his teammate. China B started as 50/1 outsiders but they topped their group, knocking out England in the process, and then in the knock-out stages beat Australia, Wales and Scotland in the final and pocketed a cheque for US$200,000 between them. Defeated finalist Stephen Maguire stated that he believed he had watched two future world champions. Shortly afterwards it was announced that Yan’s tour card would be deferred until the 2016/2017 season in order for him to complete his education in China and become eligible for a working visa. He did though play in the Champion of Champions for which he gained entry through his World Cup win and, on his debut in the UK, he beat Shaun Murphy 4–2, before losing 6–3 to Neil Robertson in the quarter-finals.
Having qualified to compete on the main tour for the 2015–16 season, Yan was unable to obtain a UK Visa, and decided to dedicate the year to completing his education in China; when he resumed his career in 2016, he became the first active professional to have been born in the 2000s. He became the youngest ever Ranking event finalist at the 2017 Northern Ireland Open. He was leading Mark Williams 8–7 in the final and was one frame from winning the title, but Williams won the match 9–8.
Yan won the San Yuan Cup in Chengdu for amateur Chinese competitions, beating Jin Long 5-4.
