Ya’akov Eilon (Hebrew: y`kb Aylvn , born 3 May 1961), a.k.a. Jacob Eilon, is an Israeli television journalist and presenter. Alongside Miki Haimovich Eilon was anchor on Channel 2’s HaHadashot 2 and Channel 10’s Hadashot 10 news bulletins. From 2019, Eilon presents the 5 pm IST version of HaHadashot 13 on Reshet 13.

He joined the newsroom in 2017 and was the anchor as well as editor of Walla! News.

In January of 2015 the host came back to TV as host on the prime-time News program Mabat that airs on IBA’s Channel 1 and remained on the show for more than two years.

On November 4, 1993 Eilon hosted Channel 2’s inaugural newscast. He was one of those who reported on news of the Kempler video following the events of the murder of Yitzhak Rabin. He often presented the news along with Miki Haimovich, until he quit Channel 2 in 2000 and transferred onto Channel 10 in 2002. He was brought back together with Haimovich in the year following, as she joined Channel 10.

Then, in February of 2012 Eilon announced his departure in February 2012 to Channel 10 CEO Uri Rozen via email. Eilon and Haimovich have weathered the storms of economic uncertainty which have often shook Channel 10, but Eilon along with other high-paid employees – was unable to receive his January paycheck in time. He was later informed by the channel’s management that they will be imposing a 15 percent reduction in wages for those who are in the upper income group. It is believed that he quit due to the fact that Channel 10 recently had to start broadcasting its main edition from Jerusalem while all the other reporters, editors, and producers remain at their Tel Aviv studio. He stated: “Even if the viewers do not fully understand that the studio picture is being projected behind me electronically, they notice, for example, that there are no more interviews in the new studio, and that we recently experienced a series of technical failures.” His last broadcast was to Channel 10 at 29 April 2012.

Since 16 January 2019, the day Reshet-Channel 10 merger took effect, Eilon is the main presenter of the 5 pm IST edition of HaHadashot 13 (renamed from Hadashot Eser on that day). He presented a one-time special bulletin broadcast at midnight 15-16 January 2019, which was preceded by a pre-merger special.
