Xu Ningsheng is one of the most popular and richest Physicist who was born on July 7, 1957 in Puning, Guangdong, China. Xu was born in Zhanlong Town of Puning, Guangdong province on the 7th of July 1957. He grew up in the ancestral home being in Chenghai District, Shantou. Xu was a secondary student during his time at Xingwen High School.
Then he returned to China in 1996, and the following year he was appointed a professor of physics of Sun Yat-sen University, becoming the Dean of the School of Physics and Engineering in 1999. He then was elevated to Vice- President in 2004. He was also Dean of the International Exchange College between 2004 until 2008.
In December 2010, he was appointed President of Sun Yat-sen University. In October 2014 he was appointed President of Fudan University.
Following his Resumption of University Entrance Examination in 1977, he enrolled and taught at the Department of Physics of Sun Yat-sen University located in Guangzhou. He earned his doctorate at Aston University in 1986, and was a professor in the school for ten years after that.

Xu Ningsheng (simplified Chinese: Xu Zhu Sheng ; traditional Chinese: Xu Zhu Sheng Pinyin: Xu Ningsheng ; born 7 July 1957) is a Chinese scientist who is the president of Fudan University. The university is a member of both The Chinese Academy of Sciences and The World Academy of Sciences.
He was a sent-down young man from 1975 until 1978, through his time in the Cultural Revolution.
He was elected a fellow of the Institute of Physics in 1998. He was named a Chang Jiang Scholar by the Ministry of Education of China in 1999.
