He was raised to a family of San-Pedro, Kouassi began his career with his hometown team Sewe Sport de San Pedro before making the move towards Servette FC of the Swiss Super League in 2009. Kouassi made his professional debut on November 1 of that year and played the entire 90 minutes of goalless draw against FC Winterthur.
Kouassi was awarded a cap by Kouassi’s country of origin, Ivory Coast, on 10 August 2011, in the Ivory Coast. Kouassi was substituted by Gervinho in the closing minutes of a friendly 4-3 win against Israel in the Stade de Geneve, home of his club Servette.
He spent most of his career in the Swiss Super League, starting with Servette and then two spells at Sion. He made 215 total appearances in the competition, and won the Swiss Cup with the latter club in 2015. He also played one season of Major League Soccer for the New England Revolution, in 2017.
