Wu'erkaixi is one of the most popular and richest Political Leader who was born on February 17, 1968 in Beijing, China. His birthplace was in Beijing on the 17th of February in 1968, with ancestors from Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. He gained fame while studying in Beijing Normal University as a hunger striker who was criticized by Chinese Minister of State Li Peng on national television. He was among the most prominent members of Beijing’s pro-reform Beijing Student’s Autonomous Federation . He also participated in negotiations that failed with government officials.
Following those protests Wu’erkaixi became the second most wanted person on China’s list for the most desired students leaders. He left for France via Hong Kong under the aegis of Operation Yellowbird, and then went on to study at Harvard University in the United States. After a year of studies in the United States, he relocated back to San Francisco Bay Area and continued his studies at Dominican University. After that, he moved to Taiwan and has since been married to an indigenous Taiwanese woman and has started the first of his families. He was an anchor for talk shows on the regional radio station in 1998 until 2001. In his book Jesus at the Gates of Beijing: the way Christianity is changing China and changing the balance of power, David Aikman claims Wu’erkaixi changed his religion into Christianity in 2002, however the claims have never been confirmed and Wu’erkaixi himself has not made any public statements regarding the issue of his religious beliefs.
In December 2013, Wu’erkaixi helped with the launch of a Chinese version of the anonymous and ephemeral communication platform Kwikdesk.
In December 2014, Wu’erkaixi announced his candidacy for the legislative seat formerly held by Lin Chia-lung, who had earlier defeated Jason Hu for the mayoralty of Taichung in the local elections. A few weeks later, Wu’erkaixi withdrew from the race, as he felt the by-election and resulting one-year term would not be enough time to accomplish his political goals.

After meeting the Premier Li Peng for the first time in May 1989, an encounter that was recorded on national television Wu’erkaixi interrupted Li in his introduction telling him “I understand it is quite rude of me to interrupt you, Premier, but there are people sitting out there in the square, being hungry, as we sit here and exchange pleasantries. We are only here to discuss concrete matters, sir.” Following an interruption by Li who stated that he was rude Wu’erkaixi continued. “Sir You said that you’re late to be here [because traffic congestion]. ]… we’ve been in contact with you to discuss the matter with us since April 22. The issue is not that you’re late, it’s that you’re arriving too late. It’s fine. It’s great that you’re able be here in the first place. …”
Wu’erkaixi first appeared in Tiananmen Square in Beijing in the middle of April 1989, which marked the beginning of the movement for students after he had founded an autonomous student’s organization in Beijing Normal University. Wu’erkaixi quickly became among the more vocal students as the people gathered. Based on Eddie Cheng, at a fast-moving meeting to create the Beijing Students Autonomous Federation and select its president, Zhou Yongjun of the University of Political Science and Law narrowly defeated Wu’erkaixi become the first president of the Autonomous Union. After organising the biggest manifestation of the 1989 protest on April 27 the 27th, he was elected head of the Autonomous Union.
After 20 years, Wu’erkaixi is still the second most wanted person in China for his role at Tiananmen. He has expressed a strong desire to return to mainland China to see his parents, whom he has not seen since 1989 after fleeing mainland China under Operation Yellowbird. He has been unable to enter the mainland, and his parents have been unable to obtain passports to see him overseas. On 3 June 2009, he arrived in Macau in transit to mainland China intending to surrender and clear his name in court. The Macao authorities refused to arrest him and had him deported to Taiwan. On 4 June 2010, he was arrested by Japanese authorities in Tokyo, when he tried to force his way into the Chinese embassy in order to turn himself in. He was released two days later without charge. On 18 May 2012, he tried to turn himself in the third time to the Chinese embassy in Washington, where the Chinese embassy decided to ignore him completely. He again attempted to turn himself in at Hong Kong in late 2013, and was deported to Taiwan once again.

Wu’erkaixi claimed to have been present at the square when the soldiers arrived to clear the protesters, and publicly stated he had seen 200 students cut down by gunfire in the square. However, an eyewitness testimonial claimed Wu’erkaixi had left the square several hours before the events he described. US embassy cables obtained and released by Wikileaks in 2011 describe that while there were killings in the larger Beijing area, there was, in fact, no killing in Tiananmen Square.
