Following the victory, Wu Weian had a chance to make a return to Guangdong with newly elevated top-tier team Guangzhou R&F F.C., which he decided to sign in the middle of 2012’s league season. The summer of July, 2014 saw Wu was transferred into China League One club Guangdong Sunray Cave on a six-month loan agreement. He was then transferred into League One side Shenzhen FC in February of 2015. Wu made an announcement of his departure on the 6th of March 2017.

Wu was a fundamental stage coach for Guangzhou R&F and played for amateur club Shenzhen Pengcheng after his retirement. He was back in professional football in July 2017 , when Wu was hired by Hong Kong Premier League side R&F as a coach and player. On the 9th of December, 2017 when the player was first to make his appearance for R&F in a 2-1 loss at home to Eastern the team, appearing as substitution to Li Rui in the 65th minute. He retired following his 2018-19 campaign.

Wu Weian started his career with a second-tier club Guangdong Xiongying in 2002 where Wu Weian established himself in following the season as a regular. Although he might have made himself a permanent fixture in the team (now changing its name to Shenzhen Kejian at the start of the 2004 league season) Wu Wei’an was not able to assist them in their bid to be promoted to the top division. Tianjin Teda, however, were keen to accept Wu Wei’an, and when they had the chance to participate within the Chinese Super League, Wu Wei’an made the move to Tianjin in the middle of the 2005 season. After this transfer, Wu Wei’an would gain the top of the list, and quickly establish his status as an established player player within the team. He played in 26 league matches and score 7 goals. The subsequent season would also see Wu Wei’an becoming an integral part of the team which qualified to play in the 2009 AFC Champions League for the first time in club history. He would go into the tournament playing in five games, scoring one goal in the tournament. He then saw the club finish runners-up in the league season of 2010 while having Tianjin end up in the final sixteen teams of in the AFC Champions League where he played in four games and scored a goal. However, Wu Wei’an was not awarded any prizes up until 2011’s Chinese FA Cup where he was a late substitute when Tianjin won the cup with a 2-1 score to Shandong Luneng Taishan.

Wu Weian would make his debut as a senior international player with Zhu Guanghu on February 7 of 2007 in a friendly match against Kazakhstan in which China defeated Kazakhstan 1-1 in a game of preparation numerous mouths before that 2007 AFC Asian Cup. Wu Weian didn’t make it into the team for the tournament however China was able to hire a new coach with Vladimir Petrovic who would play Wu against Myanmar in the 2010. FIFA World Cup qualification game in which China beat Myanmar 4-0. Wu scored his first goal. Vladimir Petrovic would try him out in further friendly matches but after a disappointing game with El Salvador, Wu would not be included in any more teams. One year later Gao Hongbo would be the new Chinese manager, and Wu was given a second chance for China’s national squad on the 4th of June 2009 in the match in the match against Saudi Arabia but China lost 4-1. Wu did not make it into any other teams.
