Willie Donachie is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on October 5, 1951 in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. William Donachie (born 5 October 1951) is a Scottish former professional footballer. Donachie was a prolific player throughout his career, with the bulk of it with Manchester City. Also, he played with Norwich City, Burnley, Oldham Athletic and Portland Timbers. Donachie played 35 times in Scotland and was included in the two FIFA World Cup squads (1974 and 1978). In the final year the time he played,, Donachie was a coach at Oldham where he worked alongside Joe Royle. Donachie has since been a coach for various teams as a coach.
When Royle quit to take over Everton during 1995 Donachie became his deputy. Donachie later served as the coach of the first team for Sheffield United. At the conclusion of the 1997-98 campaign, he returned to Royle in Manchester City. Then, in May of 2001 Royle had been dismissed however, Donachie decided to remain with Manchester City as first team coach under the new coach Kevin Keegan. In November 2001, he left City and became assistant of Terry Yorath at Sheffield Wednesday. He left his position at Hillsborough on the 28th of October, 2002, to reunite together with Joe Royle, who by now was manager at Ipswich Town. Ipswich offered Wednesday a payment of PS50,000 in exchange for this decision.
In October 2014, Donachie was appointed assistant manager at Hartlepool United. On 6 December 2014 Donachie and manager Paul Murray were sacked by Hartlepool, following an FA Cup defeat to non-league Blyth Spartans. Donachie then became the head coach for Temecula FC in the National Premier Soccer League.
In December 2009, Donachie was appointed assistant director at Newcastle United’s academy. In December 2010 he was promoted to development coach. On 6 February 2014, Donachie resigned after it was alleged that he had hit reserve player Remie Streete following a 0–2 defeat against Sunderland in an under-21s match.
Then, in July of 1984, the Donachie was a part of Oldham Athletic where he became manager-in-adviser to Joe Royle. Under Royle and Donachie, Oldham had a great time in Boundary Park, taking the not-so-popular minnows into an appearance in the Premier League, League Cup Final, and the an epic FA Cup semi-finals against Manchester United in the early 1990s.

Donachie is a native of Glasgow (originally of the Gorbals He was raised in Castlemilk and went to King’s Park Secondary School) However, he started his football professional career with England as a young player playing for Manchester City, turning professional in December of 1968. He made his first- team debut in February 1970 , and was replaced by Glyn Pardoe as a left-back in City’s team and soon became an integral part of the team. He was awarded in 1972 the FA Charity Shield, played in two League Cup finals for City and then made 347 appearances before resigning in 1979 to join NASL club Portland Timbers. After returning back to England in September of 1981 after which he joined Norwich City for a fee of PS200,000. He then returned to Portland on March 22, 1982. The following year, in November He joined Burnley.
In April 1972 the player made his official debut with Scotland in the match against Peru in the semi-finals of Hampden Park, having previously played twice with Scotland’s Under-23 squad. He then went on to win 35 caps in full for Scotland and was a part of the 1978 World Cup finals.
Donachie left Portman Road in June 2006 after Jim Magilton was appointed as manager, this coming after Donachie had stated his interest in the job himself, and joined Millwall as assistant to Nigel Spackman. He was appointed manager of Millwall on 22 November 2006, after being caretaker manager following Spackman’s sacking on 25 September 2006. Millwall had been in the relegation zone when Spackman left, but Donachie steadied the ship and Millwall finished the 2006–7 season in mid-table. On 19 March 2007, Donachie signed a two-year deal as manager. He was sacked by Millwall in October 2007, after a run of poor results left the club bottom of Football League One. He then took charge of the Antigua and Barbuda national team for a couple of games against Cuba in late 2008.
