William McInanny Carr (born 6 January 1950 in Glasgow) is a Scottish former professional footballer which played in the Football League for Coventry City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Millwall. While playing for Coventry, Carr played in six international games in full for Scotland. Carr later played non-league football with Worcester City, Willenhall Town, Maidstone United, Stafford Rangers and Stourbridge.
Carr was battling knee injury (suffered from Liverpool during April of 1973) and was forced to leave the club in February 1975 for PS80,000. The striker scored 37 goals over 292 games across all games in Sky Blues. Sky Blues.
He joined Wolverhampton Wanderers debuting against Chelsea in the same month, scoring once in a memorable 7–1 victory. He was a first-choice player and helped his new side to win the 1976-77 Football League Second Division and the 1980 Football League Cup Final. He finally left Wolves in Summer 1982 shortly after they were relegated from the top flight. In total, he made 289 appearances for the club, scoring 26 times.
In his time at Coventry the player won six cap in Scotland between 1970 until 1972. His international debut was on the 18th April, 1970 when he scored a 1-0 win against Northern Ireland.

Carr was born in Glasgow. He spent his early teenager years in Cambridge the city where his family moved in 1963.
The midfielder was a part of Coventry in the year 1967, in the form of an apprentice, and was a debutant as a substitute in the match against Arsenal the following year. Alongside Ernie Hunt and the likes of Neil Martin and Dennis Mortimer they were one of the Coventry team that scored the club’s most successful league score – sixth in the year 1970. He was also able to earn a spot at the UEFA Cup the season after. The legend of his donkey-kick goal scored by Coventry City against Everton in October of 1970. He scored the free kick by grabbing the ball with his ankles, and throwing it into the air to allow Ernie Hunt to volley home. The technique gained a lot of attention when the game was telecast during Match of the Day, and the authorities decided to ban the tactic at the close of the season.
He next joined Millwall. He stayed for only six months at the London club before returning to the Midlands. He had spells at Worcester City, Willenhall Town and Stourbridge in non-League football before calling time on his playing career in 1988.
