William won gold in his participation in the Double Trap Men Final in 2011 and finished at the top of the podium, with an overall score of 181 targets. He also earned the first Olympic qualification in any sport. He has also been a participant at his first London 2012 Olympic Games, coming in ninth place. Also, he was the Maltese flagbearer in the 2012 Olympic Games.
He was sixth in his 2008 World Championships. In the 2008 Olympic Games he again finished in sixth position at the Double Trap qualifying. After a shoot- off, he placed eighth.
