Justin William Germano (born August 6 1982) is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians. Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers. He also played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks and in the KBO League for the Samsung Lions and the KT Wiz.
After the 2008 season concluded in the summer of 2008, The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks signed Germano as an unrestricted free agent. Despite pitching very well during spring training and never giving up one hit, Germano was not able to secure the SoftBank’s Opening Day roster, as the Hawks were at their limit number of international players that were on their list (Chris Aguila Kameron Loe D.J. Houlton as well as Brian Falkenborg). But the team was unable to win, due to Aguila and Loe being unable to perform Germano’s chance came in Interleague games. Germano’s first game was with the Hiroshima Carp, Germano was recognized as the winner of the game with only two hits.
Germano was sold to the Samsung Lions of the KBO League on August 5, 2011.
On July 26, 2011, Germano threw a perfect game while on assignment with the Indians’ Triple-A affiliate, the Columbus Clippers. He threw 60 strikes in 95 pitches to help lead the Clippers to a 3–0 victory over the Syracuse Chiefs. This was the first perfect game in Clippers history, and only the fifth to be thrown in the history of the International League.
Germano was traded along alongside Travis Chick from the Padres to the Cincinnati Reds on July 23 the 23rd of July, 2005 in exchange in exchange for Joe Randa. On July 31st in the year 2006 ended, Germano became a trade partner for the Philadelphia Phillies for Rheal Cormier. On March 19th, 2007 Germano was removed from waivers by the San Diego Padres. He played 23 games in 2007 for the Padres in 2007, where he recorded 7-10 wins with the Padres and a 4.46 ERA.
