Wilhelm Tye (born November 4 1991) is an American football tight end, who is currently an unsigned free agent. He played in the NCAA football tournament at Florida State and Stony Brook and was signed by the New York Giants in 2015 as a free agent who was not drafted. Tye is notable as the only player of Stony Brook to reach the NFL and also played for two seasons with the Giants.

After being undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, Tye was accepted to the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent. He was competing with Larry Donnell, Adrien Robinson, Daniel Fells and Jerome Cunningham for the position of tight end. In September 1st, 2015 his contract was terminated to the Giants. The following day, on September 7 Tye was added to the Giants the practice team. In October of 2015 the Giants made a move to add Tye to the roster of active players. Tye was the very first Stony Brook player to be promoted Stony Brook to play in the NFL. On the 14th of December in the game on Monday Night Football game against the Miami Dolphins, Tye caught his first NFL touchdown from quarterback Eli Manning en route to an Giants victory. At the Giants following game, against Carolina Panthers on December 20, Tye found the endzone again , this time in the Giants defeat to the unbeaten Carolina Panthers. The season’s final game was on January 3, 2016 Tye discovered the endzone once more in the Giants defeat in the Philadelphia Eagles. For the season of 2015, Tye had 42 receptions for 3 touchdowns and 464 yards during 13 contests played. In the end, Tye was named to the 2015 All-Rookie Team of the PFWA.
