He was unsuccessful to be the Conservative candidate in the general election in 2010 in Colchester. After the defeat He worked as a trainee solicitor at the legal firm Asher Prior Bates, and as a solicitor for Puxon’s law firm Thompson Smith and Puxon. Quince has been elected an Conservative councillor for the Prettygate Ward on the Colchester Borough Council at the local elections of 2011, and was the chairman for the Conservative group on the council from the year 2011 until 2014, at which point he quit to concentrate on the upcoming general election.
In December 2017, he was one of three MPs warned by the UK’s data privacy regulator about sharing work computer passwords. Quince has stated that his computer is routinely left unlocked to enable staff to use it if they want to.
In August 2017, Quince was criticised after he complained on social media about having to pay a fine for parking beyond his paid time period whilst on holiday. After initially receiving criticism that his complaint was selfish and suggestions that he should just pay the fine, the MP said that his concern was not for his own parking fine, but for “those on lower incomes [who] are disproportionately affected by high parking fines.” Critics questioned this after it was reported he had consistently voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits since becoming an MP.
Following his defeat in 2010, Quince was successful at the general election in 2015 and was elected an MP (MP) in Colchester in the place of his predecessor, Liberal Democrat MP Sir Bob Russell. In May of 2016 the media announced that Quince was among several Conservative MPs who were being investigated by the police during the investigation of party spending in 2015 in connection with spending more than the legally-required limit for constituency expenditures for election campaigns. In May 2017 Quince was acquitted by the Crown Prosecution Service said that although it was evident that there were incorrect expenditure reports however, the evidence did not “meet the test” for further actions. He fought to get the UK to withdraw from in the European Union during the 2016 referendum.

From 2011 until 2016 Quince was a councillor for the borough for the Prettygate Ward in Colchester.
Following graduation, Quince worked for Concur Technologies Ltd as an Market Development Executive and Britvic as an Customer Development Executive. The company is based in Ware in Hertfordshire He was elected the second of Conservative Party councillors for Ware Christchurch Ward on the East Hertfordshire District Council in May 2007. He stepped down in to the side in April of 2009 following the announcement that he was nominated for the position of Conservative Party Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Colchester.
On 6 September 2016, after a bet on Twitter by a local constituent, Quince auditioned for the TV show Britain’s Got Talent in order to raise money for charity. £1000 was raised for local charities.
