William McLean Gifford (born 10 October 1985) is an English cricketer who played in first-class cricket at Loughborough UCCE and one List A game for Worcestershire. As Wisden stated, “no known relation” to the former Worcestershire captain Norman Gifford.

While he scored 125 points to win for Worcestershire II in the second round of Leicestershire seconds in the early part of July 2007, next month Worcestershire announced that their summer scholarship contract was not changed to a full-time deal.

Gifford had only one appearance in the first team for Worcestershire in 2006, when he took part in an List A game at Worcester against West Indies A in July 2006, and scored just one. In his time at Worcestershire Gifford played club cricket with Kidderminster Victoria in the Cockspur Cup with a score of 94 in a close quarter-final loss by Kibworth.

Gifford studied at Malvern College, where he was captain of the First XI cricket team, and also played against the Worcestershire Development XI in 2000. In 2002, he scored 104 runs for Worcestershire Under-19s in a match against their Gloucestershire counterparts. He scored 292 on the fourth wicket along with Craig Everett (215 not out). In 2003 and 2004, Gifford played a variety of appearances for the Worcestershire Second XI, his performance included the 104-run win for the Gloucestershire II against Gloucestershire II, in the month of May 2004. In 2004-05, he received a selection as a player for England U-19s’ Under-19s’ tour to India which included two Youth Tests as well as the four Youth ODIs.

Yorkshire was able to win by one run. Gifford was not captain during the match.
